Mother's Day- Part II

May 10th-

We were out of town on Mother's Day, so we didn't have a chance to celebrate with Chris' mom. To make it up to her, we all went to P.F. Chang's, Mrs. Castillo's restaurant of choice, the next day. After our delighful dinner, it was time to see Iron Man 2. I have to say, the movie was pretty entertaining; everyone definitely enjoyed it. Afterwards we took a few photos to commemorate the occassion:

Misty, Chris' Mom, Christine, and Christopher- Mrs. Castillo is wearing the "Moms- They're Better Than Dads" T-shirt we got her.

Posing with the poster. Misty's "2" cracks me up every time. ;)

A special note from Chris to his mom:
First off, thanks for giving birth to most striking lad in the whole world. Yep, thats me! Its comforting knowing I have a whole slew of women behind me as my support team. And it is all thanks to my wonderful mother. With us all from the beginning and still by all our sides providing guidance, advice, and most of all, love! Here's to 32 years of motherhood and counting. Thanks for believing in me, Peter Pan! I love you!

Mother's Day

May 9th-

Mother's Day weekend happened to fall on the same weekend as Allison's graduation (see blog post below). Since my parents were in San Antonio for the occassion as well, Chris, Shamrock and I were able to spend the holiday with them. We didn't have much time to celebrate as we all had to drive back to our respective homes, but we did have time for a Mother's Day lunch.

Mom decided to go to one of our favorite places, Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. She enjoyed a pina colada and both she and Chris shared some oysters while waiting for our table.

We had a fantastic time over lunch. The food was excellent (as usual), conversation great and mom opened her gift-

Dad, mom and I before it was time to say goodbye. :(

Couldn't leave without proof that Shamrock got to celebrate, too!

Mom, thanks for all you've done and continue to do for me (and Chris and Shamrock, too). I know we've had our ups and downs (as all mothers and daughters have), but through everything I've always admired and appreciated you. I wish we could have spent more time with you on your special day, but I'm just glad we had a chance to be there to tell you in person how much we love you. Thank you, again, for everything! Love you!

Carroll High School Class of '99 Reunion...and Mom's Kidney Stones

This past weekend was my 10 year reunion (that's right...it's been 10 whole years since my high school graduation...wow)! I was a little worried Chris would get bored or I would run out of people to talk to, but we had a blast!

Everything kicked off Friday night when we met people at a club called Aria. Seeing as Chris and I had to drive into Corpus from Dallas that afternoon, we got to the bar a little later than I would've wanted, but we still had plenty of time to get reacquainted with old buddies. Friday was so much fun, I couldn't wait for Saturday night!

Chris and I got to the Ortiz Center early to help set up that last-minute details for the reunion (like blowing up the balloons), changed and were ready to party. The entire room looked great! The two gals, Amy and Jessica, did a fantastic job making all the decorations and getting everything organized.

I really can't express how great it was seeing so many familiar faces and hearing what everyone has been doing over the last ten years. For the most part, everyone looked the same...just a little more polished. ;) Chris enjoyed meeting all my fellow Tigers and made a few friends of his own.

Overall, a truly awesome time with my 99ers- completely surpassed all my expectations! Can't wait for the next reunion! :)

So, here I was thinking this was an amazing weekend and then *dun, dun, dun* my mom had kidney stones. Yup, she and I were talking about the reunion on Sunday when all of the sudden she said her side was hurting. She tried to wait it out, but it only got worse, so we took her to the emergency room. When they said it was kidney stones, I was relieved to know it wasn't something more serious. Thankfully, she was able to pass the stone later that day so she didn't have to suffer for very long.

So, aside from my mom dealing with that awful pain and scaring me...the weekend was a success. :)

Parents Weekend!

March 26th- 29th:

We hadn't seen my parents since Christmas, so they decided to make the trip up to Dallas to visit us. I took the day off on Friday, so my mom, dad and I slept in (a little) and then shopped for a little bit until Chris joined us in the afternoon. We enjoyed an afternoon movie ("Knowing") and then went to Northpark for MORE shopping. ;) At the mall, they had a red carpet display, so we thought we'd take advantage...

Chris and I have been scouting houses recently, so we took my parents out Saturday morning to see some of the neighborhoods we liked. We had a great time driving around and checking out all of the houses, but more importantly enjoyed the quality time we all spent together. :)

Saturday night Genepool Band performed at the Irish Rover, so we spent the evening there for some food, fun and great music. I have to admit, performing for my parents always makes me a little nervous. Overall, though, I think the band performed well and my family had fun. It was also Dan (the bass player) and his wife, Sheri's, 10th wedding anniversary so all of Dan's family made it to the gig, too. It was truly a family night at the Rover! :)

Below are a few pictures from the show:

We were so glad my parents were able to make it up to visit! I'm so happy they had a chance to see the band, see the houses we were interested in and just be there to spend time with us. We can't wait until their next visit!!!

Love you, mom and dad!!!! :)
